How Multi-Slide Patio Doors Add Value to Downers Grove Homes
When Lisa and Mark, longtime homeowners in Downers Grove, IL, decided to update their house, they weren’t planning on a significant transformation. They wanted more light in their living room and easier access to the backyard where their kids played. What started as a small wish turned into one of the best upgrades they ever made: installing multi-slide patio doors with the help of Valdicass.
From Dark and Closed-Off…
Like many homes in the western suburbs, Lisa and Mark’s house had a traditional sliding patio door. It was small, drafty, and didn’t let in much light. Winters meant dealing with cold spots near the door, and summers brought higher energy bills from the A/C working overtime. They loved their backyard but felt like it was “cut off” from the rest of their home.
…To Open and Inviting
After meeting with Valdicass, they chose Pella® multi-slide patio doors — wide glass panels that glide smoothly and disappear into a pocket wall. The first time the doors opened, it changed everything:
- Their living room is flooded with natural light.
- Weekend gatherings flowed effortlessly between the kitchen, living room, and backyard.
- The entire space felt larger, brighter, and more connected to the outdoors.
“It’s like we gained an extra room without building an addition,” Lisa said.
More Than Looks — Real Value
What surprised them most wasn’t just the beauty, but the benefits they didn’t expect:
- Energy Efficiency – The new doors eliminated drafts and maintained stable temperatures year-round.
- Curb Appeal – Friends and neighbors constantly comment on the “wow factor” of the new look.
- Resale Potential – Their realtor later told them it would stand out if they ever decided to sell.
For Lisa and Mark, it wasn’t just a door — it was an investment that improved their lifestyle today and their home’s value for tomorrow.
