Pella Windows & James Hardie Siding Renovation in Western Springs, IL

A historic Western Springs home deserves an exterior renovation that improves performance without losing the architectural character that makes the property distinctive.

For this project, Valdicass combined Pella® 250 Series windows with pleated screens and James Hardie® siding in Arctic White as part of a comprehensive exterior transformation.

The project also demonstrates something homeowners don’t always see: the planning that happens before installation begins. Valdicass used HOVER 3D technology to document and visualize the home, helping the homeowners evaluate the project before construction moved forward.

Renovating a Home in Western Springs’ Historic Setting

Western Springs is known for established neighborhoods filled with homes whose proportions, rooflines, porches, trim, and other architectural details contribute to their character.

This home was no exception.

Rather than approaching the windows and siding as unrelated improvements, Valdicass treated the project as a coordinated exterior renovation.

The objective was to improve the home’s exterior performance while maintaining a clean appearance appropriate to the property’s architecture and historic surroundings.

Seeing the Project Before Construction with HOVER

One tool used during the planning process was HOVER, which created a detailed 3D representation of the existing home.

The model gave the homeowners and our team another way to examine the exterior as a complete structure, including window locations, siding areas, rooflines, trim and other architectural elements.

For a project involving both windows and siding, this type of visualization can be especially useful. Instead of considering individual products in isolation, homeowners can better understand how the different exterior components relate to one another.

For this Western Springs homeowner, HOVER became part of the decision-making process that moved the renovation from concept to construction.

Pella 250 Series Window Replacement

The window portion of the renovation features Pella 250 Series windows.

The new windows provide an updated, clean appearance while complementing the light exterior selected for the home. The project also incorporates pleated screens, providing another functional detail within the overall window package.

We coordinated the window replacement with the larger exterior renovation so the installation could be approached as part of the complete building envelope rather than a separate cosmetic improvement.

Watch the Pella Window Installation

A finished window only shows part of the story.

This project was documented while our Valdicass installation team worked on the home, providing a closer look at the installation process behind the finished product.

The installation footage gives homeowners considering a similar renovation a chance to see the work in progress rather than just a finished photo.

James Hardie Siding in Arctic White

The exterior transformation also includes James Hardie siding in Arctic White.

Arctic White creates a crisp, traditional look that works particularly well with this Western Springs home’s architecture.

During construction, the team prepared the existing exterior for the new siding system and installed a Hardie weather barrier before applying the finished siding.

Because the windows and siding were part of the same larger renovation, Valdicass coordinated the different stages of the exterior work rather than treating each improvement as an isolated project.

What Is Behind the Finished Exterior Matters

One reason we document our projects during construction is that some of the most important work eventually disappears behind the finished exterior.

Once siding and trim are installed, homeowners see the finished surface. They don’t necessarily see the preparation, weather barrier, detailing around window openings, or other work performed during installation.

Our construction photography from this Western Springs project documents these intermediate stages and provides a more complete picture of how the renovation was performed.

A Coordinated Window and Siding Transformation

This project demonstrates the advantage of planning windows and siding together.

The homeowners weren’t simply selecting a new siding color or replacing individual windows. The renovation coordinated multiple exterior components with the architecture of an established Western Springs home.

From the property’s initial condition to the HOVER 3D model, Pella window installation and James Hardie siding work each contributed to the overall transformation.
