Choose Energy-Efficient Windows & Doors and Benefit from the Federal Tax Credit
Having energy-efficient products installed in your home can come with a number of benefits—improved thermal performance being one of them. Energy-efficient windows and doors can help prevent the transfer of heat into and out of your home, potentially lowering your monthly energy costs, but did you know that that’s not the only major benefit that they can provide?
As part of the Inflation Reduction Act, the U.S. Congress made modifications to the Federal Energy Tax Credit program that can allow homeowners to claim certain energy-efficient home upgrades. Here’s what you need to know.
How It Works
Here are the major changes to the Federal Energy Tax Credit Program:
- The tax credit has been extended – The original credit expired in 2021, with it now set to run through 2032.
- There are new tax credits coming – Lifetime tax credit limitations have been replaced with annual tax credit limitations. There will now be a limit of $600 per year for energy-efficient replacement windows and up to $500 maximum for doors. The exact amount you can claim depends on the energy rating of your products and how many of them are installed in your home. This means that with the next tax credit, you’ll be able to claim up to $1,100 annually.
